“Varsovian Lutosławski” – is a musical project in which Magda Navarrete and Piotr Steczek discover forgotten and secret past of the composer.
In ’50s and ’60s Lutoslawski under the pseudonym “Derwid” wrote beautiful songs: waltzes, foxtrots, slowsteps and tangos which are now re-shown to the Polish public by the musicians.
Both records and a performance take the listeners on a marvellous journey to “those years”. Retro songs like a time wehicle move them back into the atmosphere of dancing afternoon parties where “Derwid’s” pieces were sang by Sława Przybylska, Mieczysław Fogg and Irena Santor, famous Polish singers.
“Varsovian Lutosławski” is an encounter between the world of classic and the world of entertainment, noble sounds and modernity. Magda Navarrete and Piotr Steczek – experienced and great musicians – decided to raise the cover of “the old chest” and show to the Polish audience this fascinating side of the Lutosławski’s compositions. Their project by its tones refers to the tradition of live-playing orchestra without fancy computer sounds. “Varsovian Lutosławski” is a violin quintet, accompanying instruments, double bass, percussion compiled by Piotr Steczek and a retro voice of Magda Navarrete.
“”Varsovian Lutosławski” is a feast for the senses for all who miss the melodies with a soul and spirit. During this wonderful show the artists will work together with the public to combine classics with modernity.
